Men's Tennis Falls to South Alabama, 4-0, in Sun Belt Tournament

Ragin' Cajuns finish the year with 11-11 record
LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Men's Tennis' 2021 season came to a close on Friday afternoon after it fell to South Alabama, 4-0, in the Quarterfinals of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament in Atlanta.
The Ragin' Cajuns finished the year with an 11-11 overall record.
Similar to the first meeting between the two programs on March 28, South Alabama jumped out to an early 1-0 lead with 6-2 doubles wins on Courts 1 and 2.
Karlo Kajin and Alejandro Sanchez Gonzalez had a good showing on Court 3, but their match went unfinished trailing 4-5.
South Alabama's Julien Evrard, who is ranked 89th in singles nationally, pushed the Jags' lead to 2-0 with a 6-2, 6-4 decision on Court 1 over Ivailo Keremedchiev. Moments later, the Jaguars' Sebastien Collard earned a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Sanchez Gonzalez.
Xandy Hammitt battled hard on Court 2 all afternoon, but eventually fell to Clement Marzol, who is ranked 91st in singles nationally, 6-2, 6-2 to secure the 4-0 sweep for South Alabama.
Oriol Fillat Gimenez and Alejo Ferrer Chueca both won their first set on Courts 5 and 6, respectively, but both matches went unfinished.
