Ragin’ Cajuns Resume Conference Play Against Arkansas State

Louisiana puts its six-game winning streak on the line when it hosts A-State
LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Women's Basketball puts its six-game winning streak on the line this weekend when it welcomes Arkansas State to the CAJUNDOME for a two-game set on Feb. 5-6. Tipoff on Friday is set for 6 p.m., with Saturday's contest slated for a 4 p.m. tip.
A win on Friday will give Louisiana (7-5, 6-1 Sun Belt) its first seven-game winning streak since the 2006-07 season when it won seven-in-a-row from Jan. 3-25, while a weekend sweep of A-State will give the Ragin' Cajuns their first eight-game winning streak since the 2005-06
The team enters the weekend sitting atop the Sun Belt Conference West Division standings with four full league weekends remaining before the league tournament in Pensacola, Fla.
Three Ragin' Cajuns will look to keep the program in the win column after sweeping Texas State last weekend, paced by junior guard Brandi Williams' team-leading 12.6 points per game. Ty'Reona Doucet (11.3 ppg) and Skyler Goodwin (10.8 ppg) are also contributing in double figures for Louisiana.
Doucet had the best weekend against Texas State out of anyone on the team, averaging 14.5 points and 9.0 boards in the two games against the Bobcats. In the process, the senior became the program's 19th 1,000-point scorer and the team's third player to reach 100 career blocks.
Arkansas State (9-5, 4-4 Sun Belt) enters the weekend on a four-game losing streak that was started by Louisiana two weeks ago. Most recently, the team lost two games at UT Arlington.
Four Red Wolves are averaging in double figures ahead of the two-game showdown, with Jada Stinson leading the way with 12.4 points per contest. Fellow full-time starter Morgan Wallace is also giving the team significant scoring (10.0 ppg) while also leading her team in rebounding with 7.3 boards per game.
The two team's will be meeting for the for the 74th and 75th time this weekend and the third and fourth time this season, with A-State leading the all-time series, 52-21. Under head coach Garry Brodhead, the Ragin' Cajuns are 9-9 record against Arkansas State, but own a 5-3 record at home in the Brodhead era.
On Friday night, the team will celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day, while Saturday's game will mark the team's annual Pink Game and will feature special pink uniforms.
