Louisiana Men's Basketball Back at Cajundome for Battle with McNeese

LAFAYETTE – Following a victory over New Orleans on Friday, Louisiana Men's Basketball is back in the Cajundome on Wednesday to face McNeese at 7 p.m. The contest will be available for live stream on ESPN+.
 
Trajan Wesley led the way for the Ragin' Cajuns last week matching a career-best with 16 points in 25 minutes off the bench.
 
Through the early season, the Ragin' Cajuns' bench has provided significant contribution scoring 30 or more points in four different contests.
 
Louisiana continued to ramp up its pace of play against New Orleans, the Ragin' Cajuns rank first in the Sun Belt and fifth in the nation with 74.1 possessions per 40 minutes.
 
Louisiana has been dominant in the rebounding battle in its non-conference slate, the team ranks first in the conference with 42.9 boards per game.
 
Marlin's squad's inside presence also extends to the defensive side where they are tied atop the conference with 5.29 blocks per game.
 
Kentrell Garnett has provided the Ragin' Cajuns with a consistent outside threat this season, with four made 3-pointers against New Orleans, Garnett now ranks second in the conference with 2.4 makes per game.

BLOCK PARTY
As a team, Louisiana ranks second in the Sun Belt Conference with 4.69 blocks per game this season. Individually, Jordan Brown is fifth in the conference with 1.3 blocks per game while Theo Akwuba ranks eighth with 1.2.

SERIES NOTES
The game will mark the 85th meeting between the two programs with Louisiana leading the all-time series 60-24. The Ragin' Cajuns have are 8-2 in the last 10 contests including a 75-65 victory last season.

PLAYER TO WATCH: JALEN DALCOURT
Dalcourt, a transfer from San Jose State is averaging 7.4 points and 1.4 rebounds this season as Louisiana's sixth man. Dalcourt has scored in double figures two times this season with a 13 point output against Xavier (La.) (Nov. 17) and a 10 point performance at Marshall (Nov. 23).

LOUISIANA LEGACY
Louisiana's 2021-22 roster features two second-generation talents in Julien and Brown. Julien's father Wayne was with the program from 1976-81 and was a member of the 1977 Southland Conference championship team.
 
Dion Brown lettered for the Ragin' Cajuns from 1980-84 and finished his career as one of the top scorers and rebounders in school history. Brown, a 1984 graduate of UL, earned All-Southland Conference honors in 1982 and was a two-time All-Louisiana selection.
 
He finished his career with 1,412 points and 926 rebounds (then second in school history) and helped then-USL to the championship of the 1982 Great Alaskan Shootout where he was named to the All-Tournament team.
