Ragin’ Cajuns look to cap off non-conference slate with victory over in-state foe

LAFAYETTE – Louisiana looks to put a bow on what has been a successful non-conference campaign when it welcomes in-state foe Louisiana Tech to the CAJUNDOME on Sunday, Dec. 19. Tipoff is slated for 4 p.m.

Entering the game with a 7-2 record, the Ragin' Cajuns will also look to improve upon their 5-1 record against in-state opponents this season.

Louisiana's last win came against one of those in-state teams, a 90-45 triumph over LSU-Shreveport on Wednesday, Dec. 15. Tamera Johnson led the team with 21 points in the win, while Ashlyn Jones added a career-high 16 points.

Senior Ty'Reona Doucet leads the team in scoring, averaging 10.3 points per contest, while leading the team with 5.6 rebounds per contest and 13 blocks, with Destiny Rice also contributing double figures 10.2 points per contest and leading the team with 29 assists.

Louisiana's offense has been consistent during nonconference play, ranking 69th nationally with a 44.0 field goal percentage, while the defense is only allowing opponents to shoot 32.4 from the floor, the seventh best shooting percentage defense in the nation.

Louisiana Tech comes in with a 7-2 record of its own and has won three-straight games. In its last outing on Friday, Dec. 10, the Lady Techsters downed Sam Houston State, 77-52, in Ruston.

Keiunna Walker has led the LA Tech offense all year, averaging 17.1 points in her nine starts, while Anna Larr Roberson has given the Lady Techsters 12.9 points per contest and leads the team with 14 blocks.

Louisiana Tech leads the all-time series, 41-2, with both Louisiana wins coming under head coach Garry Brodhead.
