Alumni Weekend Match on Saturday Afternoon Starts Homestand For Louisiana

LAFAYETTE – The first match of a regular season-ending, three-match homestand at Earl K. Long Gym for Louisiana Volleyball is set for Saturday (Nov. 6) at 2 p.m. when the Ragin' Cajuns meet in-state foe ULM in a Sun Belt Conference contest.

Louisiana (13-8, 8-5 Sun Belt) is celebrating Alumni Weekend with a special tribute to Sawyer Camillo prior to the match and recognition of alumni in attendance at intermission (between Sets 2 and 3).

Admission is FREE. Earl K. Long Gym has returned to 100 percent capacity for the 2021 season (face coverings are required). Fans should park in the lot located on the corner of East St. Mary Boulevard and Girard Park Circle (entrance located on Girard Park Circle).

The Ragin' Cajuns are coming off a sweep of the season's final road trip last weekend in Arkansas. Wins over Arkansas State and Little Rock strengthened their hold on second place in the SBC West – key to a first round bye in the SBC Tournament – and kept the squad in contention for the SBC West title.

The match with ULM (5-23, 1-12 Sun Belt) continues the second round of play vs. SBC West foes. Louisiana enters Saturday's match undefeated (7-0) against its divisional counterparts.

Starting with the contest against the Warhawks, the Ragin' Cajuns won't leave E.K. Long until the Nov. 18-21 Sun Belt Tournament. Next weekend (Nov. 12-13), UT Arlington and Texas State visit to close out the homestand and regular season schedule.

The 2021 season serves as the inaugural campaign for Louisiana with head coach Kristi Gray, who was hired on April 26 after five highly successful seasons at Odessa College.
Last week's sweep of the Arkansas road trip kept Louisiana undefeated (7-0) vs. Sun Belt West foes.
Beginning Saturday vs. ULM, the Ragin' Cajuns play their final three regular season matches at home – having home court advantage as seeding for the Sun Belt Tournament shapes up.
Louisiana needs one win and a UT Arlington loss to secure the No. 2 seed from the SBC West and a bye from first round play at the Sun Belt Tournament.
In the previous round of SBC West play, Louisiana defeated ULM in straight sets in Monroe on Oct. 12.
The Ragin' Cajuns have won seven straight vs. the Warhawks and are 28-5 against their in-state foe in the Sun Belt era.

Kelsey Bennett claimed her third Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week award on Tuesday. She averaged 4.6 kills per set in the Arkansas sweep.
Kelsey Bennett already owns three consecutive 200-200 seasons of kills and digs. She's 14 digs shy her first collegiate 300-300 season.
Entering the weekend, Kelsey Bennett was the only Sun Belt player with 300 kills and a .250-plus hitting percentage.
Coco Gillett is averaging 3.5 kills per set and hitting .234 vs. Sun Belt West foes.
Coco Gillett scored 17 kills on a .429 percentage at Little Rock, her highest percentage in SBC play.
Setter Siena DeCambra ranks second on the team with 10 double-doubles, mostly operating out of the 6-2 attack.

80: Career-high blocks total (15 BS, 65 BA) for middle blocker Cami Hicks. She ranks Top 5 in the Sun Belt in total blocks and Top 10 in the league in blocks per set (0.95/set).
13: Kelsey Bennett owns a team-leading 13 double-doubles, including three 20-20 double-doubles of kills and digs. She's increased her career total to 31 double-doubles.
+7: One of the key factors in Louisiana's success has been its positive differential at the service line. The squad owns seven more service aces (125) than service errors (118).

Louisiana concludes its regular season-ending, three-match homestand from Friday-Saturday, Nov. 12-13 when UT Arlington and Texas State visit Earl K. Long Gym.

The Ragin' Cajuns will celebrate Senior Night prior to the matchup with the Mavericks on Friday (Nov. 12), then face the Bobcats in the regular season finale on Saturday (Nov. 13).

Both matches are scheduled to begin at 6 p.m., with a live broadcast available on ESPN+.
