Kashyap excited for new challenge with Ragin’ Cajuns Women’s Tennis

Louisiana Women’s Tennis is excited to welcome Tanisha Kashyap to the Ragin’ Cajuns family.
Kashyap already had an accomplished athletic career in her home country of India before traveling to America. She won the Indian national title and had a Junior Olympic qualifying time in swimming before deciding that tennis was the perfect fit.
Kashyap's biggest inspiration is her father who she credits for teaching her the sport. "He came from very little and worked hard to give his family access to a better life."
In India, Kashyap won eight national tennis titles and made it to the semi-final round of her very first professional tournament.
When she isn't playing tennis, Kashyap is a sophomore Geology major who loves to travel. She has traveled to 34 countries and loves giving advice on your next vacation destination.

If you're looking for island life - Republic of Mauritius
If you're looking for an escape - Jeju, South Korea
Traveling is also one of her favorite parts of tennis. "I love making connections and experiencing different cultures because of tennis," said Kashyap.
Kashyap's love of unique cultures and connections is what cemented her path into college tennis.
"Tennis is a very individual sport, but in college it's a team environment. You can play singles matches, but you have a team behind you giving you the energy and motivation to compete," Kashyap explained.
