LAFAYETTE – Coming off its first road victory of the season, Louisiana Women's Basketball faces a huge test on Thursday night when it welcomes the LSU Tigers to the CAJUNDOME. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m.

It has been a stellar start to the season for the Ragin' Cajuns, who have defeated Texas A&M-Kingsville (84-58) and Rice (73-69) to secure its first 2-0 start since the 2015-16 campaign.

Thursday's matchup against LSU will be the first of five-straight games against in-state opposition and is one of seven non-conference games the Ragin' Cajuns will play against teams from Louisiana. Under head coach Garry Brodhead, Louisiana owns a 49-13 record against in-state opponents.

In its last outing, Louisiana overcame a 12-point deficit in the second half to take down the Rice Owls, 73-69. The victory was the team's first over Rice since 1981.

Junior Brandi Williams led the way with a monster performance, scoring a game-high 24 points to aid in the comeback victory and pace four Ragin' Cajuns in double figures.

LSU (1-1) will be playing in its first road contest of the Kim Mulkey era and is coming off an 88-74 defeat to Florida Gulf Coast. Khayla Pointer led the way for the Tigers in the defeat with 23 points, 10 rebounds and five assists.

Pointer paces the Tigers in scoring (19.5 ppg) and rebounding (10.5 rpg), while Hannah Gusters (13.0 ppg), Alexis Morris (12.0 ppg) and Jailin Cherry (10.0 ppg) are also contributing in double figures.

Louisiana and LSU will be meeting for the 34th time on Thursday evening, with the Tigers leading the all-time series, 28-5. Louisiana is looking for its first win over LSU since a 48-40 victory on March 2, 1974.
