Louisiana Sits In Sixth Place At Graeme McDowell Invite

Ragin' Cajuns fire season-low round of 3-under 285 in opening round
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Peter Hinnant and Charlie Flynn each posted rounds in the 60's in the morning session while Hudson Dubinski and Hunter Hammett each fired below-par rounds in the afternoon to lead the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Golf team during the first day of the Graeme McDowell Invitational on Tuesday on the Founders Course at Greystone Golf and Country Club.
Louisiana, which opened the day with a season-low round of 3-under 285, finished in sixth place after 36 holes of the 54-hole event with a team score of 2-over 578. The final round will begin on Wednesday at 8 a.m. with live results available at GolfStat.com.
Hinnant opened the day with a 4-under par 68 for Louisiana while Flynn posted a 3-under 69 in his 2020-21 debut. Bjorn Gudjonsson added a 1-over 73 with Hammett, Dubinski and redshirt freshman Matt Weber each firing a 3-over 75 as Louisiana sank a combined 21 birdies from its six-man lineup in the opening round.
The Ragin' Cajuns carded a team score of 5-over 293 in the second round with Hammett (2-under 70) and Dubinski (1-under 71) leading the way.
Flynn led Louisiana through the opening 36 holes with an even-par 144 to finish in a tie for 13th place after the opening day. Hinnant, who posted his first career top-5 performance in Louisiana's 2020-21 season opener at the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate, finished in a tie for 18th place at 1-over 145 with Hammett (75-70-145), Dubinski (75-71-146), Gudjonsson (73-81-154) and Weber (75-83-158) following.
Georgia Southern, led by first-day leader Mason Williams' combined 6-under 138, claimed the team lead after 36 holes at 566. Host UAB, which has won a pair of fall tournaments in 2020, was three shots back at 569 with Coastal Carolina (570), Middle Tennessee (575) and ULM (576) rounding out the top five.
Louisiana, Augusta (583), Troy (587), South Alabama (590) and Southern Miss (602) round out the 10-team field.
Hammett, Flynn and Gudjonsson will start the final round on Wednesday beginning at 8 a.m. from the No. 10 tee followed by Dubinski, Weber and Hinnant at 8:10.
