Lamar, Starks to battle it out in fan poll

It's Blackham Coliseum vs. the Cajundome. It's the equivalent of the 1985 NCAA Championship game between Georgetown and Villanova as top-seeded Bo Lamar will face 11th-seeded Byron Starks on Monday in the championship round of Ragin' Cajuns Madness, presented by Dwight Andrus Insurance.

Fan voting for the overall winner will take place beginning Monday (April 6) from 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. at RaginCajuns.com and on Twitter (@RaginCajunsMBB).

Lamar, the all-time leading scorer in Ragin' Cajuns history with 3,493 points, advanced to the finals after defeating fourth-seeded Elfrid Payton in the semifinals. Lamar received an overwhelming majority of votes on RaginCajuns.com and garnered 85 percent of the overall vote. The three-time All-American opened the 16-player event with a win over Graylin Warner before defeating teammate Roy Ebron in the Elite Eight.

Starks pulled his third straight upset in the tournament after earning 88 percent of the overall voting in stunning No. 2-seeded Andrew Toney. Toney recorded a nearly 2-to-1 advantage in polling on Twitter, but Starks claimed nearly 97 percent of the votes on RaginCajuns.com. Starks opened his magical run with an upset win over sixth-seeded Kevin Brooks before taking down third-seeded Shawn Long in the Elite Eight.
