Women’s Tennis Falls to Tulane

LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Women's Tennis was defeated by Tulane on Saturday morning by a final score of 4-3, dropping Louisiana to 9-2 on the season.

The Ragin' Cajuns fell in both doubles matches, giving Tulane a 1-0 lead heading into singles.

Due to an injury, Tulane courted five players for singles, allowing the score to be even at 1-1.

Tulane captured the first singles match to take a 2-1 lead. Louisiana fought back to win the next two points. Marina Garcia beat Tulane's Christina Sisti 6-3, 6-4 and she was followed by Clara Mantaux, also winning in straight sets 6-1, 7-6 over Lahari Yelamanchili.

Tulane won the next match to tie the match at 3-3. After a long grueling match, Tulane's Adelaide Lavery outlasted Louisiana's Mariona Perez by a score of 6-4, 5-7, 7-5, giving the Green Wave the fourth and clinching point of the match.

To begin Sun Belt Conference play, Women's Tennis will be back in action on Mar. 14 against Georgia Southern and Mar. 15 against Georgia State. Both matches are set to start at 10 a.m.
