Team will honor senior Kendall Bess and three managers following the contest
LAFAYETTE – With all eyes locked in on the No. 4 seed in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament, Louisiana Women's Basketball closes out the regular season on Saturday afternoon when it hosts Texas State at the Cajundome. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m.
Following the game, senior Kendall Bess, along with student managers Alonzo LeJeune, Trinity Harris and Donovan Aubert, will be recognized postgame for their contributions to the program.
Louisiana (16-12, 9-8 SBC) and Texas State have already met once this season, a game in which the Ragin' Cajuns won, 73-67, on Jan. 18 in San Marcos. In that victory, Louisiana came back from 18 points down in the second half, the team's largest comeback since erasing a 19-point deficit in the WBI semifinals against Oral Roberts on March 26, 2015.
The team will look to bounce back into the win column after dropping a 73-66 decision to UTA on Thursday night at E.K. Long. Skyler Goodwin led three different Ragin' Cajuns in double figures with 13 points in the loss.
In order to claim victory in its regular-season finale, Louisiana will look for Brandi Williams to have a big performance as she has been the leading scorer at home this season with 10.5 points per contest. Goodwin (9.6 ppg) and Ty'Reona Doucet (9.1 ppg) have also been top scorers for Louisiana at home throughout the year.
Doucet continues to lead the team overall in both scoring (12.5 ppg) and rebounding (7.3 rpg), while Williams has given the team 11.8 points per contest.
The Bobcats (13-15, 6-11 SBC) lead the all-time series, 10-9, and owns a 5-2 record over Louisiana in Lafayette. The Ragin' Cajuns have not defeated the Bobcats at home since winning 62-43 on March 2, 2017.
