Ragin’ Cajuns Beat William Carey In Doubleheader

LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Men's Tennis blanked William Carey twice in a doubleheader on Saturday, winning both matches by a score of 4-0. The two wins improve Louisiana's record to 13-2.
Match 1
Louisiana fought hard by winning two doubles matches to take the doubles point. Ivailo Keremedchiev and Stefan Gazo beat William Carey's Atikan Juprang and Akanit Pumjit by a score of 6-2. Clinching the point was the pair of Jamie Fraser and Karlo Kajin, winning 7-6 in a close match over Enzo Simon and Dominik Fritsche.
In singles play, the Ragin' Cajuns won three straight to win the match. First to win was Pierce Gilheany and Kajin followed up with another victory. Jan Galka sealed the match at 4-0 with a win in straight sets over Daniil Klimov, 7-5, 7-5.
Match 2
Louisiana once again started the match by taking the doubles point. Gilheany and Keremedchiev claimed the first of the two matches, followed by Fraser and Kajin who won their second match of the day as a pair.
Scoring two more points and claiming 3-0 lead was Kajin and Gilheany. They both won in straight sets to claim each of their second wins of the day. Clinching the match for Louisiana was Gazo as he defeated Tom Tillger, 6-4, 7-6.
The Ragin' Cajuns Men's Tennis team will be in action again when they head to Flagstaff, Az. for two matches. They will play Northern Arizona on March 13 at 2 p.m. and Air Force on March 14 at 9 a.m.
