Louisiana Clashes with Appalachian State on Thursday Night

Ragin’ Cajuns seeking first win in Boone since 2017
BOONE, N.C. – Entering the final leg of the 2019-20 regular season, Louisiana will play its second of three-straight road games on Thursday evening when it faces Appalachian State at the Holmes Convocation Center. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m. CST.

With just four games remaining until the Sun Belt Conference Tournament, the team currently sits in fifth place and is just a half game behind Little Rock for fourth place in the league standings.

In its most recent outing, Louisiana picked up its 12th-straight victory over ULM by defeating the Warhawks in Monroe by a score of 62-49. With the win, the Ragin' Cajuns completed the season sweep of their in-state opposition, improving them to 7-0 on
the year. Of the seven wins, two came against ULM.

Junior Kim Burton went off against the Warhawks, leading three different players with a career-high 19 points in the victory. Jomyra Mathis matched a career high with 18 points, while Ty'Reona Doucet also scored in double figures with 14.

Doucet continues to lead the team in scoring, averaging 12.7 points per game and a stellar 16.6 points per contest in road games. The junior has scored in double figures in her last five games.

Appalachian State (9-17, 6-9 SBC) enters Thursday's game with Louisiana on a one-game skid after dropping its most recent outing at Georgia Southern, 78-70. In the defeat, Pre Stanley led the charge with a game-high 23 points, while Ashley Polacek (13) and Brooke Bigott (10) rounded out the Mountaineers' double-figure performers.

Stanley is the team's leading scorer on the year, averaging 13.8 points per contest, while Polacek is also averaging double figures with 11.8 points a game.

Louisiana and Appalachian State will be meeting for the ninth time dating back to 2015 and the first time this season when the two programs face off on Thursday evening in Boone. Louisiana leads the all-time series, 5-3, but is just 1-3 all-time in Boone. The Ragin' Cajuns' only win in Boone came on Feb. 23, 2017, when Louisiana won, 68-58.
