Front Nine Surge Carries Louisiana At All-American

Louisiana's 10-under 278 tied for sixth-lowest round in school history
HUMBLE, Texas – Hudson Dubinski, Jack Tolson and Peter Hinnant each posted rounds in the 60's and the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Golf team capitalized on a surge of birdies on the front nine to finish in a tie for second-place after the first day of the 2020 All-American Intercollegiate at the Golf Club of Houston.
Second round action begins on Tuesday at 8 a.m. Louisiana, which will be paired with Sam Houston State and No. 8 Wake Forest, will tee off beginning at 9:30 a.m. from the No. 1 tee. Live results, courtesy of GolfStat, will be available at RaginCajuns.com.
Louisiana, which recorded 14 of its combined 21 birdies on the front nine, finished the first 18 holes at 10-under-278, posting its lowest team score since the final round of the 2018 Warrior Princeville Makai Invitational and tied for the sixth-lowest in school history.
The Ragin' Cajuns finished one stroke behind first-day leader Sam Houston State and tied with Wake Forest in the 13-team field. UTSA (281) and ULM (289) rounded out the top-five on the par 72, 7,067-yard course.
Dubinski carded his lowest round as a Ragin' Cajuns, shooting a 4-under-par 68 to finish in a tie for fourth-place after the first 18 holes and two strokes behind first-day leader Mark Power of Wake Forest. After opening the day with a 1-over 37 on the back nine, Dubinski scorched the front nine with a 5-under 31 that included birdies at the No. 1, 2, 4, 5 and No. 8 holes.
Tolson and Hinnant each fired rounds of 3-under 69 to sit in a tie for sixth-place for Louisiana, with Hinnant shooting a 4-under 32 on the front nine. Bjorn Gudjonsson carded an even-par 72 for Louisiana with Charlie Flynn rallying from a sluggish start on the back nine to post a 2-over 74.
Power, ranked No. 22 nationally, posted a 6-under 66 to claim the first-round lead with Christian Fanfelle of UTSA and Sam Houston State's Ting-Wei Hsieh one stroke back.
