Ragin’ Cajuns seeking first win in Ruston in program history
LAFAYETTE, La. – Louisiana looks to wrap up non-conference play with a win on Sunday afternoon when the Ragin' Cajuns head north to Ruston to take on Louisiana Tech. Tipoff from the Thomas Assembly Center is slated for 2 p.m. and will be broadcast on Cox Sports Television and ESPN+.
The Ragin' Cajuns (1-3, 0-0 Sun Belt) have found success recently against the Lady Techsters, owning a 2-2 record against their in-state foes under head coach Garry Brodhead. If Louisiana can emerge victorious on Sunday, it would secure its first-ever win in Ruston.
Junior Brandi Williams will play a big role on Sunday, entering the game averaging a team-best 13.3 points per contest after posting back-to-back 16-point games against Louisiana State and Rice.
Makayia Hallmon and Ty'Reona Doucet join Williams with double-figure scoring averages, posting 11.0 and 10.0 points per game, respectively. Doucet leads the team in total rebounds (26) and blocks (6), while Hallmon has posted three double-digit scoring efforts this year.
Louisiana Tech (4-1, 0-0 Conference USA) has won its last two games ahead of Sunday's clash and is 3-0 on the year against in-state opponents. The Lady Techsters' only loss came on Dec. 2, a 84-57 defeat at Texas.
Keiunna Walker paces three Lady Techsters in double figures, averaging 15.4 points per contest. Brianna Harris (13.3 ppg) and Anna Larr Roberson (11.2 ppg) and right on here heels, with Roberson leading the team on the glass with 6.8 rebounds per contest.
Sunday's matchup will be the first meeting between the two teams since Dec. 22, 2016, a game that Louisiana won in Lafayette, 80-72. Overall, Louisiana Tech leads the all-time series, 40-2.
