Ragin’ Cajuns Host Little Rock in Saturday Showdown

Louisiana enters Saturday’s game with a 3-0 record in league home games

LAFAYETTE – Riding a three-game winning streak and coming off a mid-week bye, Louisiana returns to action in the Cajundome on Saturday, Feb. 1, when Little Rock comes to town. Tipoff is slated for 2 p.m.
 
It's been a stellar start for the Ragin' Cajuns (13-6, 6-2 SBC) at home, which enters the weekend showdown against the Trojans with a 7-1 record on their home floor and a 3-0 mark against Sun Belt opposition.
 
The most recent victory came in Louisiana's last outing when it used a 21-0 run to open the second half and pull away for a 68-55 victory over ULM. With the win, Louisiana the Ragin' Cajuns have now won 11-straight games over their in-state rival.
 
Junior Ty'Reona Doucet led the way against the Warhawks, notching her fourth double-double of the season after contributing 17 points and 11 rebounds. Doucet currently leads the team in both categories on the year, averaging 13.0 points and 7.7 rebounds per contest.
 
Little Rock (8-11, 6-2 SBC) will put its three-game winning streak on the line on Saturday when it travels to Louisiana and is currently tied with the Ragin' Cajuns in the Sun Belt standings at 6-2.
 
In its most recent contest, Little Rock battled Appalachian State into the fourth quarter, but a perfect 13-for-13 performance at the free throw line helped seal a 68-63 victory. Teal Battle, who was named the Sun Belt Player of the Week, led the team in the win with a career-high 25 points, while Kyra Collier added a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds.
 
Collier is currently the team's leading scorer, averaging 16.1 points per game, while Battle is also averaging double figures with 13.8 points a game.
 
Louisiana and Little Rock will be meeting for the 36th time dating back to 2000 when the two programs face off on Saturday afternoon in Lafayette. Little Rock leads the all-time series, 25-10, and is 11-7 in Lafayette all-time.
 
Under head coach Garry Brodhead, Louisiana is 3-15 against Little Rock and owns a 1-7 record against the Trojans at home.
 
The team will celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day throughout the game on Saturday with special messages from Louisiana student-athletes throughout the contest. Following the game, the team will hold a postgame autograph session in the lobby of the Cajundome.
