LAFAYETTE – Fresh off an impressive 40-point victory over Arkansas State, Louisiana returns to the hardwood on Saturday afternoon when it takes on in-state rival ULM. Tipoff from the Cajundome is set for 2 p.m.

The Ragin' Cajuns (12-6, 5-2 SBC) have been successful against teams from The Boot this year, entering Saturday's rivalry showdown with a 5-0 record against teams from Louisiana. In those games, Louisiana is outscoring its opponents, 329-265.

In its most recent outing, Louisiana cruised past Arkansas State, 83-43, improving to 5-2 in Sun Belt play this year. The 40-point victory was the team's largest win over any
opponent since an 82-28 victory over Southern-New Orleans on Nov. 19, 2015.

The triumph improved the team to 6-1 at the Cajundome this year, its best record at home through seven games since the 2016-17 campaign. Louisiana is outscoring its opposition, 458-380, at home this season and is averaging 66.9 points a game.

Eleven different Ragin' Cajuns scored against Arkansas State, the second most in a game this season. Makayia Hallmon led the way with 12 points, while Brandi Williams and Diamond Morrison each added 11 points.

Thursday's victory was due in large part to Louisiana's bench, which nearly outscored Arkansas State alone with 42 points on the night. The team's bench has been crucial this year, outscoring opponents, 433-371, through 18 games.

ULM (3-15, 1-6 SBC) heads to the Cajundome on a two-game losing streak after dropping its most recent game at home to Little Rock, 70-50. In the loss, the team held its own through three quarters before being outscored 20-6 in the final period in the 20-point defeat.

Gara Beth Self led the team on Thursday with 14 points, while Diamond Brooks was the only other Warhawk in double figures with 11. Lauren Fitch is the team's leading scorer, averaging 13.8 points per contest, while Amber Thompson, who missed the team's game against Little Rock, enters Saturday's game averaging 11.0 points.

Louisiana and ULM will be meeting for the 61st time dating back to 1972 when the two programs face off on Saturday afternoon in Lafayette. ULM leads the all-time series, 43-17, and is 17-9 in Lafayette all-time, but the Ragin' Cajuns are 12-5 against ULM and own a 5-3 record against the Warhawks at home under head coach Garry Brodhead.

Louisiana has won the last 10 meetings between the two programs since 2015, four of which have come at home.
