Louisiana will play six of its next seven games at the Cajundome

LAFAYETTE – Returning home for the first time since Jan. 9, Louisiana opens a three-game homestand on Thursday night when it welcomes Arkansas State to the Cajundome. Tipoff is slated for 6 p.m.

After opening Sun Belt play with five of their first six games on the road, the Ragin' Cajuns will host six of their next seven games and eight of their final 12 contests in Lafayette. The team will play all but one of those games at the Cajundome, with its March 5 contest against UTA being held in Historic E.K. Long Gymnasium.

Louisiana (11-6, 4-2 SBC) wrapped up the tough start to its conference slate in style, overcoming an 18-point deficit in the second half at Texas State to take down the Bobcats, 73-67, and cap off the six-game league stretch with a 4-2 record.

Junior Ty'Reona Doucet, who currently leads the team in scoring with 13.1 points a game, posted a season-high 22 points, while Skyler Goodwin also added a season-high 20 points in the victory.

The squad also received 15 points from sophomore Brandi Williams, who is the only other Ragin' Cajun averaging in double figures on the year with 12.7 points a contest. Doucet and Williams have combined for 14, double-figure scoring games during the season.

A key component of Louisiana's come-from-behind victory in San Marcos was its 23-for-23 performance at the free throw line in the second half. The team's 24 total made free throws upped its season total to 271, the 13th most in the nation.

Arkansas State (7-10, 4-2 SBC) enters Thursday's game tied with Louisiana in the league standings, but has struggled away from home this season with a 2-8 record.
In their last game, the Red Wolves shot over 50 percent from the floor, but 22 turnovers were the difference as they fell to Little Rock, 67-58, snapping A-State's four-game winning streak in the process.

Jireh Washington led the way for the Red Wolves with 23 points, while Peyton Martin joined her in double figures with 10 points in the game. Martin leads the team in scoring on the year, averaging 13.5 points in 16 appearances this season, while Washington ranks second on the team with 12.8 points a game. Morgan Wallace is the third A-State player to average double figures with 10.1 points a game.

Louisiana will celebrate Kids Day on Thursday night in the Cajundome. Members of the Young Ragin' Cajuns Club will receive special giveaways and coupons from Sonic, while all kids in attendance will be invited onto the court to dance with AlyCat from the award-winning Alycat series.
