Louisiana Improves to 4-1 With Win Over Alcorn State

LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Men's Tennis team (4-1) followed up its Florida road swing with a, 4-0 victory over Alcorn State at Cajun Courts on Saturday afternoon. Before the match even started, Louisiana held a 1-0 lead due to Alcorn State only competing five players.
Pierce Gilheany had himself a day and dominated in his match winning, 6-0, 6-0 and improved his record this season to 2-2.
Due to Jan Galka being out of the lineup, Ivailo Keremedchiev was bumped up to the No. 1 singles slot and took down Gjorgji Popovski, 6-1, 6-2. Keremedchiev upped his record to 3-0 on the year. Karlo Kajin also earned his first victory during the spring beating Stojan Stojanovski, 6-4, 6-4.
The Ragin Cajuns only needed three wins due to the extra point being added for lack of players so Jamie Fraser and Silvio Cocito-Monoc's matches went unfinished.
Louisiana was scheduled to host Alcorn State for another match immediately following the one at 1:30 p.m. but it was cancelled due to weather.
The Ragin' Cajuns will host Prairie View A&M for a doubleheader on Monday at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
