Women’s Basketball Holds First Official Practice

Ragin’ Cajuns return nine players from 2018-19 squad, add four newcomers
LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Women's Basketball has officially returned after it took the court for its first official practice at historic Earl K. Long Gymnasium in preparation from the upcoming 2019-20 campaign.
It was a practice full of conditioning and ball control for the squad, which returns its entire roster from a season ago, including starters Brandi Williams, Ty'Reona Doucet, Andrea Cournoyer, Skyler Goodwin and Jomyra Mathis.
Along with key contributors Kristen Daniels, Kendall Bess, Diamond Morrison and Jazmyn Womack, the Ragin' Cajuns welcome back two well-known faces in Jasmine Thomas and Kimberly Burton. The duo last saw action for Louisiana in the 2016-17 season, combining for 367 points and 215 rebounds.
The Ragin' Cajuns have added four newcomers that will look to make an immediate impact on the squad in freshmen Alexandria Goodly, Makayia Hallmon, Caira Wren and Bre'Yelle Porter.
Louisiana will play two exhibition games against Mississippi College (Oct. 28) and Spring Hill College (Nov. 1) before officially opening the season against Loyola-New Orleans on Thursday, Nov. 7 in the Cajundome. The team's non-conference is schedule is highlighted by a big-time home matchup against SEC-foe Mississippi State on Dec. 16.
