TROY, Ala. – After wrapping up its 2019 home slate of matches, Louisiana Women's Tennis (6-11, 1-5 SBC) heads out on the road for the final four Sun Belt Conference matches of the 2019 regular season, starting with a pair of matches in Alabama, with Louisiana first visiting Troy (9-8, 3-3 SBC) on Saturday, April 6 at 10 a.m., before wrapping up the weekend at South Alabama (16-3, 5-1 SBC) on Sunday, April 7, with that match starting at 10 a.m.
DOUBLING UP: Over the past five conference matches, Louisiana has had strong starts to each of its matches, taking the doubles point in four of those five matches. In the last three matches, Louisiana has made sure to give themselves an advantage, winning the doubles point taking every point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles.
FRENCH CONNECTION: Helping power Louisiana's strong play in doubles is the duo of junior Clara Mantaux and sophomore Dana Radovanovic, who are riding a three-match winning streak. The two have paired up to go 5-2, a team-best, all at No. 1 doubles and they rank second in the conference in terms of winning percentage playing No. 1 doubles.
FLO GOES WITH THE FLOW: Sophomore Floriane Picaut, who has settled in at No. 1 singles, is leading the charge for Louisiana, and she is the team leader in wins, sitting at 10-7. She is 8-6 at No. 1 singles, and those wins ranks her fourth in the conference in total wins at No. 1.
WHAT THE TROJANS BRING: Troy comes into the match with Louisiana having snapped a three-match losing streak in its previous match when the Trojans took down Arkansas State, 4-1, in Jonesboro, Ark., on March 29. Troy currently sits seventh in the conference standings, flanked by Georgia Southern and Georgia State, who both hold a 3-3 conference record.
Going back to 2003, Troy holds a 9-1 advantage over Louisiana in matches between the two sides. This will be the first meeting between the two programs since 2015, when Louisiana visited Troy and fell 6-1 to the Trojans.
WHAT THE JAGUARS BRING: Before hosting Louisiana, South Alabama will host ULM in a top-of-the-table conference matchup with the Jaguars sitting in first and the Warhawks entering the weekend in third. Boasting a 16-3 record, South Alabama has the best overall record in the conference, with UT Arlington being the closest at 12-5 overall.
Louisiana has not won against South Alabama since heading into Mobile, Ala., in 2011 and winning 4-0. Going back to 2006, South Alabama holds a 15-3 record over Louisiana, and this will be the 14th straight season that Louisiana and South Alabama have met at least once in the season.
