The Ragin' Cajuns compete in Lake Charles for the second time during the outdoor season after opening at the McNeese Cowboy Relays/Bob Hayes Louisiana Challenge on March 9. Louisiana claimed six first-place finishes in the meet with Richard Delphin (men's hammer throw), Kimmie Rushford (women's pole vault) and Maliya Crouch (women's discus) posting top-5 marks in school history in their respective events.

Rushford (12-6 ¼) and Damon Guidry (7-0 ¼, men's high jump) will look to improve on their Sun Belt Conference-leading marks. Tyler Hughes, who clocked a season-best time of 14.19 in the 110-meter hurdles at the McNeese Cowboy Relays, is ranked second overall in the Sun Belt Conference.

Delphin enters the meet ranked No. 3 in the hammer throw among SBC athletes with Frankie Griffin (women's high jump), Reagann Leleux (women's pole vault) and Shaquille Singuineau (men's shot put) ranked third in their respective events.

Multi-athletes Franz Beyer, Chander Mixon and Juliette Smith are slated to see extensive action for the Ragin' Cajuns. Beyer and Mixon are each scheduled to compete in the men's 110-meter hurdles, long jump, shot put, discus, javelin and the 4x400-meter relay. Smith will compete in the women's 100-meter hurdles, long jump, 4x100-meter relay, 4x400-meter relay and throwing event.
