LAFAYETTE - Louisiana Men's Tennis (20-8, 2-3 SBC) fell, 4-2, to the South Alabama Jaguars (14-6, 4-1 SBC) in a late afternoon Friday match at Cajun Courts.
Louisiana was led by senior Arthur Libaud, who got himself a singles win at No. 4. While in doubles the freshmen duo of Kacper Dworak and Jan Galka and juniors Elio Lago and Jamie Fraser each locked up wins to give Louisiana the doubles point in the match.
HOW IT HAPPENED (Doubles): For the second straight match, Louisiana started things off by taking the doubles point. After falling in the first doubles matchup, Louisiana stormed back, taking the next two to claim the point.
First to win for Louisiana was the team of Lago and Fraser, defeating South Alabama's Clement Marzol and Louis Delcour, 6-3, at No. 3 doubles. Clinching the doubles point for Louisiana were the pairing of Dworak and Galka, who, at No. 2, took down Santiago Di Loreto and Loic Cloes, 6-3.
HOW IT HAPPENED (Singles): Louisiana's singles matches did not go as well as the doubles matches, with Libaud earning Louisiana its lone singles win of the match. Libaud, who played at No. 4 singles, knocked off Sam Serrano in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3, with his match finishing third on the day.
Unfortunately for Louisiana the rest of the matches would fall in South Alabama's favor. Starting with junior Pearse Dolan falling at No. 2, 6-4, 6-1, to Cloes, followed by a loss at No. 6 by Dworak, 6-2, 6-3.
Libaud's match finished next, but Galka's loss to Sacha Modica, 6-3, 6-4, at No. 1 and Lago's loss to Marzol at No. 3, 6-1, 7-6(0), would lock up the 4-2 win for South Alabama.
UP NEXT FOR THE CAJUNS: Louisiana will play its final home match of the season against Troy on Sunday, April 7th. Louisiana will recognize their lone senior, Arthur Libaud, on Senior Day, with the match set to begin at 10 a.m.
