Ragin’ Cajuns enter contest with a 3-0 record at the Cajundome
LAFAYETTE – Having last played since Nov. 25, at Lamar, the Louisiana Women's Basketball team returns to the hardwood on Monday, Dec. 2, when Xavier University of Louisiana comes to town for a 6 p.m. tip at the Cajundome.

Winners of four-straight ballgames, the Ragin' Cajuns (5-1) will look to continue its winning ways against in-state opposition having already produced a 4-0 record against schools from Louisiana with wins over Loyola (New Orleans), McNeese State, Southeastern Louisiana and New Orleans.

Louisiana is coming off another competitive contest, holding off Lamar late for a 74-63 victory in Beaumont. Four different Ragin' Cajuns scored in double figures against the Cardinals, highlighted by a 13-point, 11-rebound performance by Ty'Reona Doucet, her third double-double of the year.

Sophomore Brandi Williams continues leads Louisiana in scoring through five games, averaging 16.0 points, while Doucet ranks second with 13.3 points per game.

As a unit, the squad ranks 26th in Division I and leads the conference with a 38.6 3-point shooting percentage, while its made 115 free throws is 18th in Division. Both the long ball and free throws have been key to the Ragin' Cajuns' early-season success.

Xavier (La.) has already played 12 games this season and boasts an 8-4 record. In its most recent contest, the Gold Nuggets defeated William Carey, 71-62, in Hattiesburg, Miss. Shaelynn Moore led the way for the team with 17 points.

E. Wells has been the offensive catalyst for the Gold Nuggets this year, starting in all 12 games and averaging 12.2 points and 2.7 boards per game. Moore is the second-highest scorer on the team with 7.0 points a game.

The Gold Nuggets have faced one other NCAA Division I opponent this year, taking on North Texas in Denton on Nov. 20. Xavier (La.) dropped that contest, 68-31.

Monday's meeting will be the seventh all-time between the two programs, with Louisiana leading, 4-2. The two team's last met on Dec. 1, 2016, with the Ragin' Cajuns winning the game, 74-55.
