Louisiana Faces Wyoming In MGM Resorts Main Event

Second of two on-campus games for Cajuns; will play final two games of tourney in Las Vegas

LARAMIE, Wyo. – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Men's Basketball team heads out west for a three-game trip beginning on Thursday when it faces Mountain West Conference opponent Wyoming at Arena-Auditorium.
 
Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. CT. The game, which is part of the MGM Resorts Main Event, will be available on the Mountain West Network and can be heard in the Lafayette area on both KHXT 107.9 FM and ESPN 1420 AM. Live results will be available at RaginCajuns.com.
 
Louisiana (3-1), which opened the four-game event last Tuesday at TCU, claimed a 73-61 victory over Youngstown State in its last contest on Friday at the Cajundome behind a season-high 23 points and seven rebounds from redshirt freshman Kobe Julien.
 
After facing Wyoming (2-3), Louisiana will head to Las Vegas, Nev., to complete the MGM Resorts Main Event with games against Detroit Mercy (Nov. 25) and 2019 NCAA Championships participant UC Irvine (Nov. 26).
 
Wyoming (2-3) snapped a three-game losing skid with a 76-49 victory over Detroit Mercy on Tuesday. TJ Taylor recorded a career-high 22 points to lead the Cowboys, who held the Titans to 28 percent from the floor and outscored the Titans, 43-18, in the second half.

STORY LINES
• Louisiana begins a three-game road trip on Thursday against Mountain West opponent Wyoming.
• The game is the second of two on-campus games as part of the MGM Resorts Main Event. The Ragin' Cajuns traveled to face TCU on Nov. 12.
• Louisiana will make its second appearance at Arena-Auditorium, the highest NCAA Division I venue in the country at 7,220 feet above sea level. By contrast, Louisiana's Cajun Field - home of the Ragin' Cajuns football team - is situated at two feet BELOW sea level.
• Louisiana's previous appearance at A-A was on Jan. 7, 1989 with the Cowboys claiming a 104-84 victory.
• The teams last played exactly two years ago in the semifinals of the Cayman Islands Classic, with the Cowboys claiming a 70-61 victory on Nov. 21, 2017.

• Louisiana's Jalen Johnson became the first Ragin' Cajun to notch three straight 20-point games in the month of November since Shawn Long (vs. Miami, Alabama and Loyola) in 2015.
 
LIVING FREE ON THE LINE
• Of the top three free throw shooting teams in Ragin' Cajuns history, the second- and third-best overall performances have occurred during the past two seasons.
• The 2017-18 team converted on 76.1 percent (590-of-775) of its attempts from the line to rank second all-time with the 2018-19 squad making 527-of-710 attempts (74.2 percent).
• Louisiana set a school-record during the 1989-90 season after shooting 76.3 percent (476-for-624) from the line.
• In four games this season, Louisiana has converted on 66 of 82 attempts (80.5 percent) from the free throw line to lead the Sun Belt Conference and rank 13th nationally.
