Ragin’ Cajuns seeking to go perfect on the road for the first time since 1970

LAFAYETTE – After a dominant win at Coastal Carolina in its last road outing on Thursday, Nov. 7, Louisiana will look to wrap up a perfect record away from home when it makes the short trip to Mobile for a date with South Alabama.

A win over the Jaguars will improve the Ragin' Cajuns to 5-0 on the road this season, the first time they will have accomplished the feat since going 5-0 in 1970 en route to a Gulf States Conference championship.

Through four road contests this season, Louisiana is outscoring its opponents 167-67 (41.8 ppg) and is averaging 497.25 of total offense in those games, while the defense is allowing just 16.75 a contest.

Game Notes:
Coastal Domination
• Louisiana was dominant in its last game out against Coastal Carolina, defeating the Chanticleers, 48-7, on the teal turf in Conway.
• In that contest, the Ragin' Cajuns racked up 564 yards of total offense, 339 of which came through the air. Levi Lewis was stellar in the ballgame, completing 26 of his 30 attempts for a career-high 296 yards and career-best three touchdowns. He connected with 14 different receivers in the game.
• Even with the focus on the aerial attack, Louisiana was still able to rush for 225 yards against Coastal Carolina, with Chris Smith leading the way with 99 yards on eight carries and a touchdown.

Geauxing Bowling
• With Louisiana's 31-3 victory over Texas State on Nov. 2, the Ragin' Cajuns clinched bowl eligibility for the secon-straight season.
• If the Ragin' Cajuns are selected for a bowl game, it will be the ninth bowl appearance in program history.
Moving the Chains
• Louisiana's offense has had no issues moving the ball in chunks and is currently 11th nationally in total first downs with 231.
• Of the 231 first downs, 124 have come on the ground, good for seventh nationally.

Explosive Offense
• The ability to consistently move the chains has to do with the big plays created by the Louisiana offense. The Ragin' Cajuns are currently tied for 12th in the nation with 164 plays of 10+ yards.
• Louisiana is also tied for 16th with 53 plays of 20 or more yards.
• Of those big plays, Louisiana ranks second nationally in rushing plays for 10+ yards (82), tied for fourth in rushing plays of 20+ yards (26), and tied for ninth in rushing plays of 30+ yards (12).

Rushing Game on Top
• With Louisiana's 225 yards on the ground against Coastal Carolina on Thursday, Nov. 16, the team has upped its season total to 2,529 yards, the seventh most in the country.
• Louisiana ranks third in the country in yards per attempt with 6.7 yards per carry, ranking just behind Clemson (6.87) and Oklahoma (6.86).
• Louisiana has scored 32 rushing touchdowns this season, tied for the third most in the FBS. The Ragin' Cajuns rank Navy (36), Army (33), Air Force (33) and are tied with Clemson (32).

Three-Headed Monster
• Louisiana's combination of Elijah Mitchell, Trey Ragas and Raymond Calais have been unstoppable this season.
• The trio has accounted for 1,947 of the 2,529  rushing yards and 24 of the team's 32 rushing scores.
• More impressively, the trio has only combined for 28 yards lost.
• The trio all scored a rushing touchdown in the game against Arkansas State (Oct. 17), the second time this season the three have recorded a rushing touchdown in a single game and the third time in their careers.

Tossing the Ball Around the Yard
• Levi Lewis had a career night against Coastal Carolina on Nov. 7, setting career bests in passing yards (296), completitions (26) and touchdowns (3).
• Lewis finished the game against the Chanticleers 26-of-30 through the air for a completion percentage of 86.7 percent, setting a new school record for a single game.
• The junior has thrown for 1,771 yards on the year with a 67.0 completion percentage (148-221) and has notched 14 throwing touchdowns to just three interceptions.
• Lewis opened the 2019 season throwing 267 yards with 24 completions on 39 attempts.
• Lewis' 267 passing yards is the most against a Power 5 school since Blaine Gautier threw for 315 yards against Arizona on Nov. 26, 2011.
• Furthermore, Lewis' 267 passing yards is the most in an opener since Chris Mason opened the season throwing for 283 yards against Southern on Sept. 5, 2009.

Bradley Continues to Dominate
• Ja'Marcus Bradley returned to his old self against Coastal Carolina on Nov. 7, bringing in seven passes for 71 yards and catching his fifth TD of the season.
• Bradley has produced 510 receiving yards on the year, ranking him sixth in the conference.
• Bradley had his 34-game reception streak snapped after not recording a catch against Texas State.
• Bradley had one of the best receiving seasons in school history in 2018. The Ackerman, Miss. native, caught a team-high 10 touchdowns and added 608 yards.
• Bradley's 10 touchdowns were the most by a receiver since the 1996 season. He also had a tremendous performance against South Alabama catching three touchdowns. Not only did that tie the most single game touchdowns among wide receivers in school history, it was also the most TDs caught in a single game since Jason Cherry nabbed a three-piece against North Texas in 2008.

Dynamic Duo
• Levi Lewis and Ja'Marcus Bradley have hooked up for a touchdown five times this season, bringing their career total to seven touchdowns between the pair.
• The seven touchdowns tie them for 10th in program history for the most scores between and wide receiver and a quarterback.

Lockdown Defense
• Louisiana has been superb on defense this season, holding opponents to just 17.1 points per contest in 2019. That 17.1 points allowed ranks 11th in FBS and first in the Sun Belt Conference.
• The Ragin' Cajuns have held their last eight opponents to less than 30 points and have held three of those opponents to less than 10 points.
