Cajuns Fall To 11th At Maridoe Intercollegiate

Louisiana one of nine team to shoot over 300; paired with Nebraska, UTSA on Tuesday
CARROLLTON, Texas – Hudson Dubinski made the second-largest individual jump up the leaderboard on Tuesday, firing a 1-over-par 73, but the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Men's Golf team were among a group of nine teams that struggled on the Maridoe Golf Club course slipping to 11th place overall after the second round at the Maridoe Intercollegiate.
Louisiana, which will be paired with Nebraska and UTSA in Tuesday's final round, recorded a team score of 307 to end at 612 after 36 holes as the challenging course kept all 12 teams above par on the day with nine posting scores of 300 or above.
Dubinski, who opened with an 83 on Sunday, shot a 3-over-36 after starting on the back nine before posting a 2-under 34 after the turn. The sophomore, who moved up 23 spots from 64th place after Sunday's opening round to a tie for 41st, recorded all three of his birdies during the final seven holes, including back-to-back putts at No. 6 and 7.
Micah Goulas and Bjorn Gudjonsson each finished in a tie for 21st place on the leaderboard at 151 after the second round with Goulas recording a 5-over 77 and Gudjonsson a 6-over 78. Jack Tolson (80-79-159) finished in a tie for 51st with Peter Hinnant (78-85-163) finishing tied for 62nd.
No. 12-ranked SMU extended its first-day lead to nine shots over three teams despite posting a team score of 16-over 304. The Mustangs finished at 591 after the second round with Arkansas State (297-303-600), North Texas (292-308-600) and No. 15 Texas A&M (298-302-600) finishing in a second-place tie, with San Francisco (306-298-604) and No. 2-ranked Washington (303-301-604) finishing in a tie for fifth.
New Mexico finished the second round in seventh place at 606 with UTEP (607), Little Rock (609), Nebraska (610), Louisiana (612) and UTSA (622) rounding out the field.
First-day leader Noah Griffin of SMU shot a 2-over 74 to finish at 142 after 36 holes. He finished two strokes ahead of UTEP's Eduardo Gonzalez, who climbed 25 spots up the leaderboard after carding the low round of the day (4-under 68).
The final round of play resumes on Tuesday at 8:30 a.m., with golfers teeing off from the No. 1 and No. 10 holes. The Ragin' Cajuns will tee off from the No. 10 hole beginning at 9:10 a.m.
