Louisiana Golf Opens Play Sunday At The Maridoe Intercollegiate

Cajuns face rugged field that features three top-15 ranked teams
CARROLLTON, Texas – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Men's Golf team faces its most-rugged field of the season when it opens competition on Monday at the Maridoe Intercollegiate at the Maridoe Golf Club.

Three teams ranked in the top-15 of the 2019 Golfweek standings – No. 2 Washington, defending champion and No. 12 SMU and No. 15 Texas A&M – will join Louisiana and host North Texas in the 12-team field. Rounding out the field includes San Francisco, New Mexico, Arkansas State, Little Rock, UTSA, UTEP and Nebraska.

The first round of play of the three-day event on the par-72, 7,554-yard course will start at 8:30 a.m., from holes No. 1 and 10. Action resumes on Monday at 8:30 a.m., before concluding with the final 18 holes on Tuesday.

Louisiana returns to action for the first time since finishing in a sixth-place tie at the 19-team Graeme McDowell Invitational last month.

Jack Tolson, who will lead the Ragin' Cajuns five-man lineup, recorded his second top-20 finish of the season. The Opelousas native recorded a combined 16 birdies during the 54-hole tournament to finish at 1-under 215.

Tolson, who leads Louisiana with a 73.0 scoring average, will be joined in the lineup by Peter Hinnant, Hudson Dubinski, Micah Goulas and Bjorn Gudjonsson.
