Danny Farquhar Signs Minor League Deal With New York Yankees

Farquhar returns to mound after suffering a life-threatening brain injury in 2018

LAFAYETTE – Former Louisiana pitcher Danny Farquhar has signed a minor league contract with the New York Yankees, Fancred's Jon Heyman first reported on Twitter.
 
Farquhar will take the mound for the Yankees organization following a full recovery from a life-threatening brain hemorrhage that he suffered in the dugout on April 20, 2018 while playing for the Chicago White Sox.
 
Over the course of his seven-year career, Farquhar has played for four different clubs, including the White Sox, and boasts a 3.93 career ERA with 309 strikeouts in 272.1 innings of work.
 
As a member of the Louisiana baseball team from 2006-08, the 2008 Sun Belt Conference Preseason Pitcher of the Year notched a team-high 83 strikeouts in 14 appearances in his final season with the Cajuns.
 
In 2007, Farquhar earned All-Sun Belt Conference accolades after posting a 6-3 record on the mound. He started the season as a closer before making his way into the starting role, recording a team-best six saves. Farquhar also struck out 115 batters, while walking just 22 in 87 2/3 innings of work.
 
Louisiana is 25 days away from opening night when it hosts No. 23 Texas at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field at Russo Park. Season tickets for the 2019 season are on sale now and can be purchased here.
