@RaginCajunsWT Begins Fall Season With Trip To The Contender Crossfit Islander Open

LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Women's Tennis begins its 2018 fall schedule on Friday, Sept. 14, with its second straight trip to the Contender Crossfit Islander Open hosted by Texas A&M – Corpus Christi in Corpus Christi, Texas, with the event stretching over the weekend ending on Sunday, Sept. 16.

FULL WEEKEND OF ACTION: The action starts on Friday, at 9 a.m., 2 p.m. if weather forces the tournament indoors, and Louisiana will be competing several women in both singles and doubles.

        - Ai Noa Fabre vs. Taylor Parkinson (UIW); Ocean Draw
        - Morgan Forshag vs. Alicia Thal (UTRGV); Turtle Draw
        - Hoda Habib vs. Marina Vicens Miquel (AMCC); Turtle Draw
        - Clara Mantaux vs. S. Omowocare (UTSA); Palm Tree Draw
        - Marina Rodriguez Garcia vs. L. Solo (Lamar); Wave Draw
        - Dana Radovanovic vs. Victoria Romanovskaia (AMUK); Beach Draw

RUNNER-UP RETURNS: Last season than freshman Picaut made a deep run in the tournament, making it all the way to the finals in the first collegiate tournament of her career. Despite losing in the championship match to AMCC's Marina Vicens Miquel, 2-6, 6-3, 10-5, the young Frenchwoman had announced her arrival on the college scene.

DOUBLES TITLE HOLDERS: Although they are not going to be playing together as a pair in this year's tournament, Picaut and Radovanovic did play together during last year's Islander Open. The Louisiana duo won three matches on their way to be crowned doubles champion for the 2017 Islander Open.

NEW FACES JOIN VETERAN CAJUNS: This offseason Louisiana head coach Stephanie Vallejos, along with assistant coach Edit Suhajda, hit the recruiting trail hard signing five new student-athletes who have joined the Ragin' Cajuns for the 2018-19 season. The five new members, along with five returning student-athletes, make up a 10 women roster for coach Vallejos.

TWO WEEKS TILL THE CAJUNS COME HOME: Louisiana's next fall tournament is the 2018 Ragin' Cajuns Invitational hosted on Cajun Courts in Lafayette. It's the lone home tournament for the fall starting on Friday, Sept. 28 and finishing the next day, Saturday, Sept. 29.
