Stelly finishes 27th in javelin, Walker 32nd in women's triple jump
TAMPA, Fla. – Senior Bartul Basic and two other members of the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns track and field battled the elements during the final day of competition at the NCAA Division I East Preliminary on a rainy Saturday at the USF Track and Field Stadium.
Basic, one of two Ragin' Cajuns competing in the men's javelin, finished 14th overall in a 48-man field as he posted a throw of 204 feet, 5 inches on his final attempt of the day. Teammate Hunter Stelly finished second in his overall flight, recording a throw of 192-8 to finish 27th overall.
Senior Taylor Walker posted the second-best mark of her career in the women's triple jump, posting a mark of 40-7 ½ to finish 32nd for Louisiana.
The top 12 qualifiers out of the NCAA East Regional will compete in the NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships held June 6-9 in Eugene, Oregon.
