@RaginCajunsBSB Has Sun Belt Tournament Run Cut Short By Texas State

LAFAYETTE, La. – The second-seeded Louisiana baseball team saw its Sun Belt Conference Tournament run come to an end Friday night as the Ragin' Cajuns were defeated by sixth-seeded Texas State 11-1 in seven innings at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field at Russo Park.

Starter Nick Lee was handed the loss for the Ragin' Cajuns (34-25) after giving up seven runs on eight hits with three walks and two strikeouts in 7.0 innings.

Zachary Leigh registered the victory for the Bobcats (30-27-1) limiting the Cajuns to one run on one hit with six walks and six strikeouts in 6.0 innings of work.

Louisiana was held to one for the first time since the 2014 season against Texas State in a nine-inning game at home on April 27.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Kole McKinnon gave Louisiana a 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning on a leadoff solo home run to left field. The homer is the fourth of the season for McKinnon.

Texas State quickly responded in the bottom half of the third with a two-out RBI single up the middle by Luke Sherley to tie the game at 1-all.

The Bobcats took the lead in the fourth inning when Jaylen Hubbard scored on a bang-bang play at the plate on a ball hit to first base by Jared Huber. In the next at bat, Dylan Paul drove an RBI single back up the middle to extend the advantage to 3-1.

Texas State exploded for seven runs on five hits and four walks in the fifth inning to take a 10-1 lead. A two-run single by Mickey Scott and a two-run double by Sherley highlighted the scoring in the inning.

The Bobcats plated the final run of the game in the bottom of the sixth when Huber scored on a Dylan Moore wild pitch to make the final 11-1.
