Ragin' Cajuns Drop Road Match At No. 69 Houston

HOUSTON – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns women's tennis team started the week off with a morning loss to the No. 69 Houston Cougars, 4-0, at the Winston Tennis Facility in Houston, Texas.
The loss dropped the Cajuns record to 10-6, snapping a two-match winning streak, while Houston is now 13-1, winning their fifth straight match and improving to 9-0 at home.
HOW IT HAPPENED (Doubles): Houston grabbed the doubles point, and they started the day with a win at No. 2 when Alter and Mills beat Louisiana's freshmen duo of Floriane Picaut and Dana Radovanovic, 6-3. Louisiana's senior pairing of Elena Sava and Abby Johnson then lost at No. 1, to the nationally ranked No. 65 Houston pair of Dimitrova and Mazzari, 6-2, giving Houston the doubles point and a 1-0 lead heading into singles.
HOW IT HAPPENED (Singles): Houston's first win in singles came at No. 2 when Sveva Mazzari defeated Louisiana's Picaut, 6-2, 6-1. The Cougars followed that up with a win at No. 3 when Lauren Alter beat Sava, 6-3, 6-4, to put Houston up 3-0 in the match.
The Cougars then clinched the day, with Alison Mills beating Louisiana's Radovanovic at No. 4 in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1, to give Houston the 4-0 win.
UP NEXT FOR THE CAJUNS: Louisiana returns to Cajun Courts on Tuesday, Mar. 20 for a doubleheader against Jackson State, with the first match starting at 10 a.m., and the second getting started at 1:30 p.m.
