Louisiana Wraps Up Non-Conference Schedule With First Trip To Hammond Since 1971
LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns men's basketball team returns to action after an 11-day break for the Christmas holidays when it travels east to Hammond to face in-state opponent Southeastern Louisiana on Saturday afternoon at the University Center.
Tipoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. Fans can listen to the game in the Lafayette area on KHXT-FM (107.9), ESPN 1420 AM and worldwide on RaginCajuns.com with Jay Walker (PxP) and Ross Cook (color) providing the commentary.
Louisiana (8-4), playing its final non-conference game of the season before opening Sun Belt Conference action next week against Arkansas State, returns to play after posting an 80-67 victory at McNeese on Dec. 18. Malik Marquetti scored a career-high 29 points, including seven 3-pointers, to lead the Ragin' Cajuns with Marcus Stroman adding 20 points.
JaKeenan Gant, who missed the McNeese game due to injury, leads Louisiana in scoring (16.9), rebounds (7.2) and blocked shots (3.2) with Marquetti (14.8), Stroman (12.7) and Justin Miller (10.5) all scoring in double figures.
The game against SLU (4-8) will mark Louisiana's first trip to Hammond since 1971. The Ragin' Cajuns have won 13 of the last 14 meetings in the series, including an 82-74 victory in the previous meeting between the schools on Dec. 19, 2017.
