Louisiana narrowly misses on handing the Bobcats their first Sun Belt Conference loss
SAN MARCOS, Texas – Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Volleyball was on the verge of handing Texas State its first Sun Belt Conference defeat of the season on Friday at Strahan Arena, but the Bobcats erased a 2-0 match deficit to escape.
Texas State's 3-2 (19-25, 22-25, 25-19, 25-20, 15-7) win snapped Louisiana's two-match winning streak.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Louisiana (12-13, 4-7 Sun Belt) hit .237 and forced Texas State into 19 attack errors at the onset of the match, opening a 2-0 edge.
Once the Ragin' Cajuns took a 5-3 lead in the first set following back-to-back kills from Nia Antoine and Hanna Rovira, they wouldn't relinquish their hold. After the Bobcats (21-5, 12-0 Sun Belt) cut their deficit to 17-16, a kill from Hali Wisnoskie and a pair of Texas State miscues gave Louisiana the distance it needed to close out the frame.
Louisiana changed course in the second set when a pair of kills and pair of blocks erased a 14-11 deficit. After Texas State reclaimed the lead at 19-18, a Desiree Johnson kill and a Bobcats attack error pulled Louisiana ahead to stay.
Fewer attack errors and critical scoring runs helped Texas State bounce back in the third and fourth set. The hosts had only nine miscues over the span, used a 7-0 run to snap a 9-all tie in the third set and used a 6-0 run to forge ahead 10-5 in the fourth set.
The fifth set turned in the Bobcats' favor after back-to-back blocks opened a 4-2 lead. Louisiana was unable to get its offense untracked, finishing the frame with only two kills.
LEADING THE RAGIN' CAJUNS
Antoine's 13 kills led a trio of Ragin' Cajuns in double digits. Rovira chipped in 12 kills and Dree'Ana Abram posted 11 kills.

Louisiana out-blocked Texas State 15-10 headlined by a season-high nine blocks (1 BS, 8 BA) from freshman Tia Smith who was playing in just her third Sun Belt match.
Danna passed out 26 of the Ragin' Cajuns' 48 assists. It marked her sixth time with 20-plus assists in Sun Belt play.
