Louisiana Men's Tennis has three members one win away from qualifying for the Main Draw
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Senior Arthur Libaud, junior Pearse Dolan and freshman Jan Galka each reached the final round of the Men's Qualifying Singles portion of the ITA Southern Regionals, hosted by the University of Alabama, giving Louisiana Men's Tennis a great first day and a chance to send three Ragin' Cajuns into the Main Draw of the tournament.
DEEP RUNS FOR THE CAJUNS: Galka started the day taking down Ole Miss' Sebastian Rios in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1, to advance to the second round. Next up for the Louisiana freshman was Auburn's Giovani Pasini, and much like his first-round match, Galka dispatched his opponent in straight sets 6-4, 6-1 to move into the final round.
Dolan advanced to the second round of the draw after Louisiana State's Agie Moreno withdrew from the tournament and that set up a match with Ole Miss' Fabian Fallert in the second round. Dolan and Fallert had a three-set battle in their matchup but Dolan would come out on top, completing a comeback to win 3-6, 7-6(3), 7-6(3).
Louisiana's Libaud earned a bye in the first round to advance to the second round where he faced off with Louisiana State's Ruy Teixeira. Libaud advanced to the final round, after Teixeira retired from the match due to injury.
FINAL ROUND TIMES: Louisiana's three finalists will all get started at 11 a.m., on Friday, Oct. 19. Galka will face Louisiana State's Boris Kozlov, Dolan will take on South Alabama's Sacha Modica and Libaud will play Lorenzo Rodriguez giving Louisiana a chance to send three Cajuns to the Main Draw.
