Cajuns to play four matches in next three days
LAFAYETTE - The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns women's tennis team opens a busy stretch of four matches in the next three days beginning Thursday when it faces Southern University at Cajun Courts.
First serve is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Admission to all Ragin' Cajuns tennis matches is free. Live results will be available at CajunStats.com.
Louisiana (1-6), playing without the injured Elena Sava and Marina Rodriguez Garcia, returns to the court for the first time since dropping a 4-0 decision to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Feb. 24. The Ragin' Cajuns, in the midst of a seven-match homestand, will face Alcorn State on Friday (March 10) before taking on LSU Alexandria and Grambling on Saturday.
Senior Alexandra Way and freshman Lucile Delabarre have each split time between the No. 1 and No. 2 courts this spring for Louisiana with Kelly Drew seeing the majority of action at No. 3. Delabarre, Drew, Abby Johnson and Carla Ortega have each picked up singles victories for the Ragin' Cajuns during dual matches with the doubles tandem of Drew and Ortega coming off an impressive 6-0 victory in their first match of the season.
Southern (3-6) has won three of its last four matches after opening the season with an 0-5 record. The Jaguars dropped matches to LSU, Tulane, New Orleans, Southeastern Louisiana and Southern Miss before going 3-1 overall in SWAC play on Feb. 24-25.
