Women's Hoops To Face Texas State In SBC Quarterfinals

NEW ORLEANS – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns women's basketball team faces Texas State in the quarterfinals of the Sun Belt Tournament on Thursday at Lakefront Arena.
Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. The game will be streamed live on ESPN3 and can be heard in the Lafayette area on ESPN 1420 AM, along with on the internet via the Radio Pup app. Live statistics are available at RaginCajuns.com.
No. 5 seed Louisiana (18-10, 11-7 SBC) meets No. 4 seed Texas State (16-13, 11-7 SBC) for the third time this season. The teams split the previous two contests with the Cajuns defeating the Bobcats 62-43 in the last meeting on March 2 in Lafayette.
The Cajuns are led in scoring by senior guard Jaylyn Gordon (17.9 ppg). Gordon leads the Sun Belt Conference in points per game, three-point field goals made per game (2.6) and minutes played per game (38.4).
Junior Simone Fields is sixth in the league in scoring (14.9 ppg) while junior Troi Swain (10.0 ppg), freshman Jasmine Thomas (8.6 ppg), junior Nekia Jones (7.5 ppg) and senior Gabby Alexander (5.9 ppg) are all key contributors for the Cajuns.
Texas State is led in scoring by junior guard Taeler Deer (10.8 ppg). Sophomore Toshua Leavitt (10.0 ppg) and Sophomore McKinley Bostad (6.5 ppg) also lead the Bobcats.
Semifinals are held on Saturday, March 11 with the championship game being played on Sunday, March 12. All games of the 2017 Sun Belt Conference Women's Basketball Championship will be played at Lakefront Arena in New Orleans and broadcast live on ESPN3.
