Ragin' Cajuns Host SBC Champ Mavericks For Senior Day
LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns men's basketball team makes it final regular-season appearance at the Cajundome on Saturday when it plays host to Sun Belt Conference regular-season champion UT Arlington.
Tipoff is scheduled for 7:15 p.m., and is the nightcap of a doubleheader that starts with the Louisiana-UTA women's game at 5. The game can be heard in the Lafayette area on KHXT 107.9-FM along with worldwide on the RadioPup app. Live video and statistics will be available at RaginCajuns.com.
Louisiana (19-11, 9-8 SBC) extended its win streak to five games after posting a thrilling 94-84 overtime win over Texas State on Thursday. The Ragin' Cajuns trailed 63-54 with 6:36 remaining in the game before outscoring the Bobcats, 40-21, the rest of the way.
Jay Wright, who will be honored during Senior Day ceremonies prior to the game, recorded one of the top performances in Ragin' Cajuns history, scoring 21 points (all in the second half), including a stretch of 14 straight that helped Louisiana rally to force overtime.
Justin Miller added 20 points and 10 rebounds for Louisiana with Johnathan Stove scoring 15. Bryce Washington, who is fifth nationally in rebounds per game (11.4), notched his 21st double-double of the season with 13 points and a game-high 14 rebounds. Frank Bartley added 12 points for the Ragin' Cajuns.
Bartley leads Louisiana in scoring at 15.7 points per game with Wright close behind at 15.4. Washington enters the final game of the season as the lone player in the SBC to average a double-double (13.5 points, 11.4 rebounds) and leads the SBC in field goal percentage (.592).
Miller averages 11.1 points for the Ragin' Cajuns with Stove following at 8.8.
