Ragin' Cajuns Drop SBC Match To Texas State, 4-1

JONESBORO, Ark. – Alexandra Way claimed her fourth consecutive match with a straight-set victory at No. 1 singles, but Texas State claimed four of five matches that were completed in singles play to defeat the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns women's tennis team, 4-1, on Saturday at the A-State Tennis Courts.

Louisiana (5-9), playing the first of two SBC matches on the Arkansas State campus this weekend, dropped its second straight match. Texas State improved to 5-9 overall.

Way posted a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Texas State's Eva Dench to improve to 4-3 overall at No. 1 singles this season. Lucile Delabarre forced a third-set for the Ragin' Cajuns at No. 3 singles before dropping a 6-3, 2-6, 6-4 decision to Ana Perez.

Pippa Carr, Julia Navajo-Melendez and Joy Chia Ming Ming each recorded straight-set victories for Texas State.

Louisiana will close out its weekend trip on Sunday when it faces Arkansas State in an 11 a.m. match.
