Louisiana Host Islanders In Women's Tennis Action

Second of seven-match homestand for Ragin' Cajuns
LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns women's tennis team makes its second appearance of the 2017 season at home this season when it plays host to Southland Conference member Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at Cajun Courts.
First serve is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Admission to all Ragin' Cajuns tennis matches is free. Live scoring will be available at www.CajunStats.com.
Louisiana (1-5), which is in the midst of a seven-match homestand, lost its home opener on Wednesday to McNeese, falling to the Cowgirls, 4-0. Alexandra Way, Abby Johnson and Carla Ortega each claimed their opening set in singles play for the Ragin' Cajuns.
Johnson, Ortega, Kelly Drew and Lucile Delabarre have each picked up a win in singles play for Louisiana with Delabarre and Drew posting a 1-2 mark in doubles action.
A&M-Corpus Christi (4-1), which finished 24-1 overall last season, plays its first match after having its 25-match regular-season win streak – the longest in the nation – snapped in a 6-1 loss at SMU on Feb. 15. The Islanders opened the 2017 season with wins over Prairie View, UT Rio Grande Valley, Houston and UTSA
Freshman Maria Maldonado improved her record to 5-0 on the season with a win at No. 5 singles for the Islanders against SMU. Judit Vives (4-1), Marina Vicens Miquel (3-1) and Louise Trigona (3-2) have been the top performers for the Islanders this season.
