Cajuns head to Metroplex for Monday night showdown at UTA
SAN MARCOS, Texas – The backcourt tandem of Jay Wright and Frank Bartley combined to score 43 points on 16 of 22 shooting and the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns men's basketball team snapped a two-game losing skid with a 79-73 win over Texas State in a Sun Belt Conference battle on Saturday at Strahan Coliseum.

Wright scored 19 of his game-high 23 points in the second half for Louisiana (13-6, 3-3 SBC), which shot 54 percent (26-for-48) from the floor and 7-for-13 (53.8 percent) from behind the 3-point line. Bartley added 20 points for the Ragin' Cajuns, going 8-for-10 from the floor, with Justin Miller scoring 13 of his 17 points in the first half.

Bartley scored five straight points to start at 23-7 run for the Ragin' Cajuns as the junior connected on a jumper in the lane before his 3-pointer snapped a 16-16 tie. Wright and freshman P.J. Hardy each followed with buckets for the Ragin' Cajuns before a bucket by Bartley and a free throw by Miller gave Louisiana a 26-18 lead with 7:04 remaining in the first half.

Wright, who added three assists to move into 10th-place on the school's all-time list with 316, gave the Ragin' Cajuns a 31-21 lead with a basket at the 5:19 mark before Miller gave Louisiana its biggest lead of the half – 37-23 – when he scored on a jumper with 1:57 left.

Texas State (10-8, 3-3 SBC) closed to within 39-33 with 18:29 remaining in the game when Kavin Gilder-Tilbury converted on a three-point play. But Louisiana answered with a 9-0 run as Wright drained a 3-pointer, Bartley converted on a three-point play and Bryce Washington followed for a three-point play that gave the Ragin' Cajuns their biggest lead of the game, 48-33, with 16:23 left.

Washington, who finished with seven points, pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds for Louisiana, which held a 37-30 advantage on the glass and improved to 8-1 all-time against the Bobcats.
