MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns golf team saw itself slip two spots into 12th place on Monday after posting a score of 9-over par (297) in the second round of The Franklin American Mortgage Intercollegiate at The Grove hosted at the par-72, 7,368-yard The Grove Club.

"We got off to a very horrific start because we played scared," head coach Theo Sliman said. "We really put our backs against the wall after the front nine. But I am proud of how this team responded on the back nine and finished the day out on a good note. Hopefully we can carry that momentum over to the start of the final round. It's still a tight leaderboard and we have the opportunity to make a move and end this tournament in a good position."

After carding 19 holes over par on the front nine, the Cajuns bounced back on the final nine holes of the day to record just two blemishes while tallying eight birdies and an eagle. The Cajuns are seven strokes back of the top 5 with a 36-hole score of 18-over (594).

Ole Miss leads the event going into the final day with a score of 2-over (578) after using a round of 2-under (286) to move into the top spot. College of Charleston (+4, 580), Cincinnati (+7, 583), Middle Tennessee (+10, 586) and Memphis (+11, 587) round out the top 5 teams.

Branden Thornberry of Ole Miss sits atop the individual leaderboard with a two-round score of 4-under (14) after registering the only round in 60s at the event with a 69 (-3) on Monday.

Senior Fernando Cruz Valleis inside the top 25 headed into the final round in a tie for 18th at 3-over (147).

Jack Tolson and Ragnar Gardarsson are tied for 35th at 5-over (149). Gardarsson notched the team's best round of the day climbing 17 spots up the leaderboard with his round of 73 (+1). The senior carded three of the Ragin' Cajuns eight birdies on the back nine holes.

Triston Elston ended the day in a tie for 53rd at 7-over (151), while Aron Juliusson dropped into a tie for 71st with an overall score of 11-over (155).

The final round of The Franklin American Mortgage Intercollegiate at The Grove gets underway at 7:30 a.m. with play starting off of the first hole. Louisiana is paired with Louisville for the final round and will tee off starting at 8:15 a.m. Live scoring is available on Golfstat.com.
