Kentucky native helped Ragin' Cajuns to three postseason appearances

LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns men's basketball coach Bob Marlin announced on Friday that assistant coach Gus Hauser is leaving the program to assist in running a family business in his native Kentucky.

"We appreciate the contributions that Gus has made to our program for the last three years," Marlin said. "He was a key member in three teams that reached the postseason, including the 2014 NCAA Championships. We hate to see him leave, but we wish him well moving forward."

Hauser, a native of Barbourville, Ky., spent three seasons with the Cajuns after stints at Wofford, Coastal Carolina, ULM, New Mexico State and Louisville.  During Hauser's 13 years at the Division I level, he was a part of nine postseason appearances (four NCAA Tournaments, two NIT appearances, two CIT appearances and one CBI appearance) and has an overall record as an assistant of 266-166.

"I'm very grateful for the opportunity to represent UL these past three years," Hauser said. "I want to thank Coach Marlin and the administration for the chance to have been a part of the Ragin' Cajuns basketball program. UL and Lafayette will always be a special place to me and my family."
