ROAD TRIP COMES TO A CLOSE IN WACO
No. 5 Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns softball (25-2, 7-1 Sun Belt) finishes an eight-game road trip, which began March 19 in Arlington, Texas, with a trip to Waco, Texas on Tuesday, March 29 for a 5 p.m. doubleheader with the 20th-ranked Baylor Bears (26-6, 2-0 Big 12) at Getterman Stadium. The doubleheader will be televised on Fox Sports Southwest Plus.Â

Tuesday's Louisiana-Baylor doubleheader is a rematch of the 2015 NCAA Lafayette Regional finals held at Lamson Park. The Ragin' Cajuns won the winner-take-all game 9-1 (6 inn.) on the tournament's final day to advance to the NCAA Auburn Super Regional.Â

No. 5 Louisiana and No. 20 Baylor meet in the regular season for the third straight season. The current string of yearly meetings began with an April 22, 2014 doubleheader in Waco and continued last season with the Bear's trip to Lamson Park for a weekend series in April. Both sides return several players from last season's five meetings (2 regular season, 3 NCAA Regional) with the Ragin' Cajuns having returned eight hitters from their starting lineup and the Bears returning seven on their nine hitters.

DOMINANT WEEKEND IN TROY
No. 5 Louisiana bounced back strong from a series finale loss at UT Arlington (March 20) during the Easter Weekend series in Troy. The Ragin' Cajuns outscored the Trojans 27-1, scoring in the first inning each game, and held a 29-10 advantage in hits. Aside from a solo home run in Game 2, the pitching combination of Alex Stewart (two shutouts) and Kylee Jo Trahan did not allow a single Trojans baserunner past second base. Â

After Baylor avoided elimination in the first game of the Lafayette Regional championship round by posting a 6-2 victory, the Ragin' Cajuns bounced back with a 9-1 (6 inn.) triumph in the winner-take-all finale. A bases-loaded sacrifice fly by Aleah Craighton broke a scoreless tie and plated the first of two Cajuns runs in the second inning. A 7-2 DP initiated by Shellie Landry kept the lead 2-0 in the third. Lexie Elkins' home run in the third, which upped the lead to 3-0, was her 31st of the season establishing a new single-season record. After Baylor cut the lead to 5-1 in the fifth, Jordan Wallace started a 1-2-3 DP to close the inning and end the rally.

Last Time in Waco (April 22, 2014)
The Cajuns swept a doubleheader at Getterman Stadium on April 22, 2014 by scores of 5-2 and 7-4. After Baylor jumped ahead 1-0 on a solo home run by Holly Holl in the fourth inning of Game 1, the Cajuns responded with three runs in the fifth behind a Haley Hayden double and a two-run homer by Lexie Elkins to take the lead. With Game 2 tied at 4-4 after five complete, the Cajuns put together two runs in the sixth and one in the seventh to complete the sweep of the Bears. Hayden was hit by a pitch from Heather Stearns with the bases loaded in the sixth to break the tie.Â
