Huyton, Libaud Ranked 6th in Southern Regional Rankings

SKILLMAN, NJ --Â Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns men's tennis junior Will Huyton and freshman Arthur Libaud were named to the Oracle/ITA Division I Men's Southern Regional Rankings on Tuesday.
Huyton, a native of Stamford, England, posted a 2-1 record in doubles play last season. This past fall, Huyton advanced to the Championship Doubles semifinals with Libaud in the Cajun Tennis Classic and qualified for the United States Tennis Association (USTA) qualifying round this past fall.
Libaud, a native of Les Chenevieres, Courpiere, showed well this past fall. He advanced to the Championship Doubles semifinals with Huyton in the Cajun Tennis Classic and also claimed the singles back draw over Oklahoma's Spencer Papa at the same tournament.Â
The duo also performed well in the Southern Regionals in Tuscaloosa, Ala. back in October. In the Doubles Main draw, Libaud and Huyton eliminated Ole Miss' duo of Ricard Jorge and Robert Mounger in the second round. They followed with an 8-6 victory over Sun Belt Conference opponent Pablo Moreno and Giovani Samaha of the Troy Trojans. In the doubles semifinal round, Huyton and Libaud defeated No. 1 seeded Maxime Hinnisdaels and Mark Krickovic of Auburn, 8-5.Â
"Arthur and Will definitely combined well with good chemistry throughout the fall with solid results at the Cajun Tennis Classic and the Southern Regionals by making the semifinals in each tournament," Ragin' Cajuns head coach Mark Jeffrey said. "We look for them to make a big push in improvement as the spring semester starts January 16."
The ITA Southern Regional Rankings comprises all NCAA Division I teams from the states of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama. Teams that are included in the Southern Region include the University of Alabama, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, LSU, Auburn, South Alabama, Troy, Tulane.Â
The Ragin' Cajuns men's tennis team opens the 2016 spring season Jan. 16 at home against Lamar.Â
