Cajuns open two-game road trip against Hurricanes

CORAL GABLES, Fla. - The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns men's basketball hits the road for the first time this season as it travels to face ACC opponent Miami (Fla.) on Monday at the BankUnited Center. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m CT and can be heard in the Lafayette area on Hot 107.9 FM. The game will also be televised on RSN/FOX Sports Florida along with ESPN3.

STORY LINES
• Louisiana hits the road for the first time this season as it opens a two-game trip beginning tonight against ACC opponent Miami. The Ragin' Cajuns, opened the season on Friday with a 108-68 win over Division III Louisiana College on Friday, will end the road swing on Friday (Nov. 20) when it visits Alabama at Coleman Coliseum.

• The game against Miami is the first of three non-conference games this season for the Ragin' Cajuns against schools from the Power 5. Louisiana will also face Alabama (Nov. 20) and UCLA (Dec. 15).

THE SERIES
• The schools have played once on the hardwood with Louisiana claiming a 66-60 victory over the Hurricanes on Dec. 20, 1999 at the San Juan Shootout in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

THE SEASON PREVIEW
• Louisiana returns all five starters and nine letterwinners from the 2014-15 squad that posted a 22-14 overall record and 13-7 mark in the Sun Belt Conference. The Ragin' Cajuns earned a berth in the CollegeInsider.com Tournament, falling to eventual champion Evansville, in the quarterfinals at Blackham Coliseum.

THE OPPONENT
Miami (1-0) opened its season on Friday with an 86-59 win over UT Rio Grande Valley (formerly UT Pan American). Sheldon McClellan (18 points) and Ivan Cruz Uceda (16 points) led five players in double figures for the Hurricanes.

UP NEXT
• Louisiana will wrap up its initial road trip on Friday (Nov. 20) when it visits Alabama in a 7 p.m. at Coleman Coliseum. The game will be televised on SEC Network +.
 
QUICK HITS
• Louisiana's 108 points against Louisiana College marked the 10th time in school history (since 1970-71) the Ragin' Cajuns eclipsed the 100-point mark in a season opener.

• Shawn Long (1,041 rebounds) needs six rebounds to pass Marcus Stokes for second-place in school history. Long is 25 rebounds shy of becoming the school's all-time leader (Roy Ebron - 1,064 rebounds).

• The Ragin' Cajuns averaged 77.5 points per game in 2014-15 to rank 16th overall among NCAA Division I schools.
