MOBILE, Ala. – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns volleyball team continues a three-match road trip on Friday, Oct. 9 taking on South Alabama at 6:30 p.m., inside Jaguar Gym in Mobile, Ala.

Following Friday's match at USA, the Ragin' Cajuns (5-13, 1-5 Sun Belt) conclude the road trip on Saturday, Oct. 10 in Troy, Ala., with a 6 p.m., match against the Trojans.

Louisiana began the road trip with a five-set victory over ULM in Monroe on Wednesday, Oct. 7. Charged by season-highs in aces (9) and blocks (15), the Cajuns rallied from a 2-0 deficit to grab their first Sun Belt win of the season and extend their current road win streak to two matches.

"We never gave up and played with heart and for each other," head coach Heather Mazeitis-Fontenot said. "We started serving tougher and came away with a good win to start the week."

Friday's match is the lone meeting this season with South Alabama (8-8, 2-3 Sun Belt). The matchup with Troy (8-11, 2-4 Sun Belt) is the first of two between the two teams in a one-week span as the Trojans visit Earl K. Long Gym on Saturday, Oct. 17.

The Cajuns, who moved within one in the win column of sixth place in the Sun Belt standings with the win at ULM, have an opportunity to continue to climb in the standings as the league nears the midpoint of the schedule. Louisiana trails ULM, USA and Troy by one in the win column in the standings.

Louisiana utilized a balance effort to overcome ULM as five different players reached five kills. It marked the second straight outing that at least four players reached five kills.

Chanelle Gardner (2.45 kills/set) and Sara Mossakowski (2.44 kills/set) lead the Cajuns offense averaging nearly five kills per set, combined. Gardner has led the way in SBC play, generating 2.50 kills per set on a .298 hitting percentage.

Nia Antoine continued to show progress as a member of the rotation, throwing down six kills and posting a season-high six blocks at ULM. Antoine is hitting .279 and averaging 1.75 kills and 0.58 blocks per set in the last six matches playing in the Cajuns' six-man rotation.

Libero Sydney Davis tops the team averaging 3.20 digs per set. Stacey Reilly is second at 3.05 digs per set and Hanna Rovira is coming off a season-high 13 digs at ULM.

South Alabama split its last two Sun Belt matches, both five-set affairs, defeating Georgia State (Oct. 3) and falling to Troy (Oct. 6). Mechell Daniel has a team-best seven double-doubles and ranks third in the Sun Belt in kills with 3.53 per set (4.00 in SBC play). Junior middle blocker Sarah Richardson's .338 hitting percentage is sixth-best in the Sun Belt this season and she leads the club with 58 total blocks.

Troy is 3-0 on its current six-match homestand, improving to 7-2 at Trojan Arena this season. The Trojans host ULM on Friday before hosting the Ragin' Cajuns. Blair Winston is averaging 2.96 kills per set to lead the Troy offense this season, but lately Sara Landis and Leah Causey have joined her in carrying the offensive load.  During Troy's three-match winning streak, all three are averaging 2.50 kills per set.
