FOR STARTERS
After a night of upsets around the Sun Belt Conference, the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns find themselves all alone atop the conference standings as the league's only undefeated team; however, a stiff test awaits on Thursday when Louisiana hosts defending SBC regular season champion and this year's preseason favorite, Georgia State, at the Cajundome.

THE LAST TIME OUT

The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns put together one of their most complete games of the season and moved to 3-0 in Sun Belt Conference play for the first time since the 2007-08 season with a 80-64 win over Appalachian State at the Holmes Center on Monday night.

The Cajuns won their sixth game in their last seven tries by putting four players in double figures, led by 15 from Brian Williams and freshman Bryce Washington's career-high 14 points.

The win also marked the 300th career victory for Cajun head coach Bob Marlin, accounting for his wins at both Louisiana and his previous head coaching stop at Sam Houston State.

In its fist meeting with the Mountaineers as members of the Sun Belt Conference, it was the Cajuns who dominated the paint 48-36 and shot 51.7 percent from the field to move to 3-0 all-time against Appalachian State.

Washington just missed a double-double, pulling in eight rebounds, dishing out three assists and blocking a pair of shots in a breakout performance. Meanwhile, Williams hit six of his eight shots from the field and had three steals, and Kasey Shepherd added 13 points and three steals as well.

UP NEXT
The Cajuns have a full week off before playing three games in five days, beginning Jan. 15 at Georgia Southern. The game in Statesboro, Ga., also kicks off a busy second half of January, one which will see Louisiana take the floor seven times in the final 16 days of the month.

QUICK HITS
• Head coach Bob Marlin picked up  his 300th career wins at the Division I level on Monday in UL's win at Appalachian State.

• The Ragin' Cajuns are 3-0 in SBC play for the first time since the 2007-08 season. That team won its first four league games and finished 11-7 in conference play, claiming the SBC West Division title.

• Louisiana has scored at least 80 points in each of its last seven games, marking the first time that has occurred since the 1993-94 squad had seven straight 80+-point games early in the season. That team finished 22-8, winning the SBC Tournament and advancing to the NCAA Tournament.

• The Ragin' Cajuns hit 67.7 percent (21 for 31) from the field in the second half vs Troy on Saturday. It is the highest field-goal percentage in a half for UL with at least 30 FG attempts since hitting 68.8 percent (22 for 32) in the second half against New Orleans on December 13, 2001.

Devonta Walker's 19 rebounds at Northwestern State is the second-most by a Sun Belt player in a single game this season and is the most by a Cajun since Long had 19 last year against Jackson State.
