FOR STARTERS
After snapping a three-game losing streak with a 37-point win over Arkansas State, the Ragin' Cajuns will play their fourth game in just seven days on Saturday afternoon when they wrap up the season series with Gerogia State in an ESPN3 game at the GSU Sports Arena.

THE LAST TIME OUT
The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns busted out of their three-game skid in a big way on Thursday night, blasting Arkansas State, 96-59, at the Cajundome behind 27 points from Shawn Long.

Long hit 10-for-11 from the floor, including a career-high five three-point shots, on his way to a season-high scoring output. He needed just 19 minutes to put his night together, adding six boards and a pair of blocks to his line.

But after Long's 4-for-4 first half from behind the arc accounted for the only UL (11-8, 5-3 SBC) long balls, the Cajuns lit it up from behind the arc in the second period, hitting 10-of-11 on three balls. Four of those came from Hayward Register, who was the only other Cajun in double figures with a career-high 19 points on a night that saw 14 players hit the court and 12 crack the scoring column. The 14-for-22 night as a team from three came on the heels of a 2-for-18 performance on Monday against ULM.

Defensively, the Cajuns were as good as they have been all year, holding the Red Wolves to just 37.9 percent from the floor and keeping all-SBC candidate Anthony Livingston in check with just two points and four rebounds. Point guard P.J. Hardwick led ASU with 17 points as the only player in double figures.

UP NEXT
Louisiana will have a pair of games on the road next weekend, looking to avenge its loss to South Alabama when it faces the Jaguars in Mobile on Thursday. Two days later the Cajuns head to San Marcos, Texas, for its first meeting of the season with upstart Texas State. The Ragin' Cajuns will not play agains on the Cajundome floor until a Feb. 5 meeting with Appalachian State.

QUICK HITS
Shawn Long's 22-point, 22-rebound game against South Alabama was the first 20/20 game by a Cajun since Dan Gay had 21 points and 20 rebounds against McNeese State on March 7, 1981.

• Sophomore Hayward Register erupted for a career-high 19 points against Arkansas State, including 17 in the second half. He hit four threes and scored 14 consecutive Cajun points within a span of four minutes of the second half.

• The Cajuns had not scored better than 25 points off the bench since opening conference play, but changed up the starting lineup on Thursday and got 14 players into the game against the Red Wolves. The change proved immediate dividends as the Cajuns scored its most points against a Division I opponent this year and got 50 bench points, despite just two players in double figures.

• UL hit 14 of 22 three-point baskets in Thursday's win against Arkansas State, a mark that is the second-highest percentage (.636) from the arc among Sun Belt teams this year.

Shawn Long hit 5-for-5 from three-point range on Thursday, surpassing his previous single game high of three triples which he had done seven times previously.
